23.07.2014. Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, on the 22^nd of  July adopted the Law  "About amendments to the Law of Ukraine"  About the Unified State demographic Register and documents confirming the citizenship of Ukraine,  identity or special status "

 According to these changes fingerprints of  hands are determined like one of the main biometric datas  (together with signature and digitized foto)  and will be marked on a contactless electronic storage medium  which will be included in documents for traveling abroad, which will identify the person at the border crossing.

Digitized fingerprints will l be marked on a contactless electronic storage medium which will be included in such documents:

- Ukrainian passport for travelling abroad,

- Diplomatic passport of Ukraine,

- Service (business) passport of Ukraine,

- Seafarers ID-card,

- Crew member certificate,

- Certificate of stateless persons to travel abroad,

- Refugee’s travel document.

Person has the right (because of religious beliefs) to refuse to add such information in ID-documents .

Accordingly, the fingerprints also will be kept in the Unified State demographic Register.

The procedure for obtaining digitized fingerprints will be done by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
